SYMPTOMS AND CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS

By Sue McLauglin

HAIR LOSS

Hair loss is often attributed to stress, according to Sue, which is the most common cause. But when hair loss is severe, it is recommended to look at whether it is the result of a nutrient deficiency. Certain vitamins in particular Vitamin D, is understood to be one of the most important nutrients required for the body to function.

Sue said: “The negative impact of a vitamin  deficiency on the body can lead to conditions that cause hair loss, and there is evidence to suggest that vitamin deficiency is directly involved in depleating the process of hair growth and hair follicle health.”

UNEXPLAINED FATIGUE
Feeling tired often has many causes, but vitamin deficiency is commonly overlooked as one of them.

Sue said: “Individuals diagnosed with a vitamin deficiency are known to complain of low energy and muscle fatigue, with long-term vitamin supplementation being shown to improve these symptoms plus healthy balanced diet.”

EXCESSIVE SWEATING
Chronic sweating,  is a known indicator that your body can be lacking in vitamins and essential amino acids.
This form of sweating is likely to take place when the individual has done very little, often making it an embarrassing situation but one which can be dealt with easily by using the hair test to determine what your body is deficient in.

WEAK BONES
Vitamins are essential in maintaining bone health, so pain in your bones or lower back could be an indicator that you’re not producing enough of the vitamins your body requires.
Studies have shown that people with low vitamin levels were two times as likely to have aching bones in their legs, ribs or joints compared with people who had sufficient levels of the vitamins required. This is a dangerous and important symptom to look out for, as it can contribute to the risk of developing osteoporosis and fractured bones later in life.

PRONE TO COLDS AND FLU
It is not a coincidence that cold and flu season correlates with the winter months, when our vitamin levels are particularly low due to lower sun exposure.
A key role of vitamin D is keeping your immune system strong enough to fight off illnesses and infections. This is done initially by treating the gut, and encouraging the good bacteria’s, which creates a healthy environment for the body organs, and the scalp to heal itself.

FEELING BLUE?

There has been various research studies which indicate a link between vitamin  deficiency and depression. The reason for this is because vitamins are important for adequate brain function, particularly in regard to the release of ‘serotonin’, known as the happiness chemical.

Vitamin supplements can help to improve immune health, and helps the body to get the nutrients needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. But, the vitamin could also lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases, researchers claim.
As Sue reiterate to all of her clients... “ Grass doesn’t grow on a busy street” therefore she recommends healing the body first, then the hair and scalp will heal more efficiently.
